Ubbe

UBBE

Ubbe Ragnarsson was the son of the one and only

Ragnar Loðbrókar. In the second half of the

ninth century, he led a large pagan Viking army with his brothers Hálfdán and Ívar Boneless. The army was huge and with hundreds of ships and thousands of Vikings who plundered, looted, and conquered a

large part of England.Ragnar Loðbrók and Raven-Flóki were childhood friends, and Ubbe was a frequent

guest at his home.

Ubbe came to Iceland around 880 in search of Raven-Flóki, the “boat builder.” He heard that Flóki lived in Vestmannaeyjar and steered his ship there. When he arrived at the islands, Ubbe requested an audience with Herjólfur, but he was absent. Therefore, Freyja, Herjólf’s wife welcomed him and offered accommodation in the town until Herjólf returned home

Did you know that Freya gave birth to a beautiful blonde-haired daughter with blue eyes nine months after Ubbe’s visit?
